I have been going here since I was born. It is small, by plantation ‘measures’, but surely my favorite one. When I was 4 years old, I picked violets in the backyard. Now, it is fenced off, but you just have to go in from Nicholson Dr, and the violets are still there. The people that work here for BREC (Baton Rouge Recreational Center) love the place. You can hear it in their tours, and in their care to safeguard it when they talk about it.
Great gift shop. They have a cookbook from way back when, pictures, and have set up the kitchen and garden just as it would have been. I never tire of visiting, and highly recommend it if you are going to Baton Rouge, or live here and haven’t been in a while.
